Monday Minute 12.9.24

Dear Parents,

We are getting some very cold temperatures now.  Our policy is to have students outside if the temperature is above 22 degrees.  There are a lot of benefits to getting some activity at recess time, but it can also be miserable if students aren’t wearing clothing appropriate for the weather.  Please send students with a winter coat, hat, gloves, and boots for the next few months so they are prepared.  Consider labeling all their items so lost gloves and other gear can get returned to the students.  Thank you!

STEAM Night

Mark your calendars for our first annual STEAM Night coming next month on Jan. 14th.  We’ll have a variety of hands-on STEAM activities your child can explore.  It will be open-house style, and families can choose which activities to participate in.   More details to come!

Choose Kindness

We are on the lookout for any acts of kindness at Altara.  Here are some examples of kindness happening at our school these past couple of weeks.  We have the best students!

Lilac Miller (2nd grade) Lila always helps a classmate if things spill or drop on the floor. Thanks Lila! 😉

Harper Jeppsen (2nd grade) She is always positive and excited about who is assigned to be her partner in class.

Oakley Nielsen (4th grade) Oakley is always to her classmates. She works well in a group and likes to help when someone needs it.

Chaz Sandall (1st grade) Chaz was kind by telling another student she did a good job writing the letter correctly. Thanks for being nice.

Ali Sitake (1st grade) Ali helped another student problem solve so they could find scissors. Thanks for helping out.

Aria Travis (1st grade) Aria jumps up to help clean messes and put away supplies. She helps keep our classroom tidy and clean.

Ashlyn Castillo (1st grade) Ashlyn goes out of her way to help others when they are sad. She talks softly to them and says positive words to help them feel better.

Slade Harford (1st grade) Helping others by bringing a snack from home when he knew they didn’t have one.
