Dear Parents,
Last week one of our teachers won a Teacher Appreciation Award from Beehive Meals. This contest had hundreds of nominations throughout Utah and the surrounding states. Our very own Sue Wiggins in 4th grade was the recipient! We are thrilled she was honored for this award. Beehive Meals donated five freezer meals to every staff member at Altara. Congratulations, Mrs. Wiggins!
Digital Citizenship Tip
Teaching our students to be alert online is just as important as teaching them to look both ways before crossing the street. Here’s what being alert looks like in the digital world:
Pause Before You Post: Encourage your student to think twice before sharing anything online. Does it spread kindness? Does it protect their privacy?
Spot the Red Flags: Help them recognize unsafe websites, suspicious links, and messages from strangers. Not everything online is what it seems.
Create Safe Spaces: Talk about how their online actions affect others. Being respectful and positive makes the internet a safer place for everyone.
As a reminder, CSD parents/guardians have access to the CSD Technology Portal at https://tcp.canyonsdistrict.org/Links to an external site.to view and modify the Internet filtering level for their student(s), view flagged search terms, view Chromebook login time and request sites to be reviewed.
Learning Environment Forms due May 5th
On rare occasions there may be a need to request a specific learning environment for your child. Attached is a form you can use to make this request. All requests must be completed by May 5th so we can begin creating classes for the next school year. Please understand that requests after this date are very difficult to process. A lot of thought and care go into our class lists, as we try to meet the needs of all students as well as balance the numbers. Thanks for understanding.
Choose Kindness
We are on the lookout for any acts of kindness at Altara.
Zachary Sorenson (1st grade) Zachary willingly gave up a swing at recess so another student could use it.
Kaythan Bustillos (1st grade) Kaythan helped push all the chairs in during library time.
Ella Laverty (1st grade) Ella helped pick up pencils off the floor at the end of the day.
Cole Robinson (3rd grade) Cole always brings a smile and a happy disposition to school. He makes our classroom a great place to share and learn!
Everly Payne (4th grade) Everly is so willing to help other students with math concepts. She has a great attitude and shows tremendous patience and kindness.
Easton Swingley (3rd grade) Easton helped a friend today that was having a stressful day. He helped calm his friend and helped pack up & get ready to switch classes! Thank you, Easton!
Kaiden Thompson (5th grade) Kaiden is wonderful as a student and as a person. He is a very good example!

Join the PTA for the 2025-2026 School Year!
We are looking for parents who are interested in becoming a part of the PTA next school year. We have several open positions that allow you to be as involved as you’d like in your child’s school. Whether you want to volunteer for specific events or take on a leadership role, there’s an opportunity for everyone.
Throughout the year, we host a variety of activities and events, and being part of the PTA gives you the chance to make a meaningful impact on our students and teachers.
We have both Chair positions, where you can oversee and take charge of specific activities or responsibilities, and Committee Member positions, which allow you to work collaboratively with others under the guidance of a Chair.
We welcome all levels of involvement, so whether you can give a little time or a lot, your contribution will make a difference!
To apply for a position to become a Chair, Committee Member or General PTA Volunteer, please complete the online form HERE. Responses will CLOSE May 9, 2025.
Box Tops Stats: Ms Larsons class is currently leading the pack with 224 box tops! Ms Platt’s class is in second place. Keep scanning those receipts!
