MONDAY MINUTE FOR THE WEEK OF 4.27.2026

Altara’s Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to our 1st grade teacher Maestro Laureano for being selected as our school’s Teacher of the Year! ¡Felicidades, Sr. Laureano! We think you are awesome!

Sr. Laureano was celebrated last week at our district’s Teacher of the Year ceremony and walked away with some pretty neat prizes!

Gracias por el impacto que tienen en nuestros estudiantes de la Escuela Primaria Altara!

Parents who feel their child has specific needs that may not yet be fully recognized are welcome to provide input regarding student placement for the 2026–2027 school year. Completed forms must be returned to the school no later than April 30, 2026. You are welcome to send the form back to the school office or email the form directly to Principal Julie Fielding (julie.fielding@canyonsdistrict.org).

♥️ Choose Kindness ♥️

We have the KINDEST students at Altara Elementary!

Ethan Hadfield (4th grade) Ethan neatly stacked my piles of papers today without me asking.

James Hill (4th grade) James kindly put up chairs at the end of the school day without me asking.

Salote Mokofisi (1st grade) Salote is so kind! She gets her friend’s folder for her and pushes in chairs to help keep her space nice.

Grayson Vinson (1st grade) Grayson cleans up the classroom without being asked. Thanks, Grayson.

Boasting about Boosters

Our wonderful art teacher Mrs. Wilson does such a great job with our Kittyhawks in Art Brain Booster.

Here is their latest collaborative school project:

In the Altara Art classroom this month Kittyhawks were inspired by sculpture artist Dale Chihuly. 3rd-5th grade students transformed donated recycled plastic water bottles by painting and spiral-cutting them into vibrant sculptures that are full of movement. This project celebrates finding creativity with repurposed materials in honor of earth month. Because after all-  “Earth without ART is just ‘eh”.
