| RISE Testing: Grades 3rd – 5th Grade (students began the RISE assessment TODAY!) |
Helping students feel ready (not stressed) for end-of-year testing is mostly about building confidence, routines, and healthy habits.
Here are practical things you can do to help your student be successful on the RISE:
1. Keep Learning Low-Stress and Consistent
- Read together daily (even 15–20 minutes)
- Practice math facts in fun ways (games, flashcards, apps)
- Review past homework or classwork
2. Prioritize Sleep and Routine
- Stick to consistent bedtimes (especially the week before testing)
- Avoid late-night screen time
- Keep mornings calm and predictable
3. Fuel Their Brain
- Provide balanced meals (protein + whole grains + fruit)
- Encourage water instead of sugary drinks
- Don’t skip breakfast on test days
4. Talk About Testing in a Positive Way
- Frame it as a chance to “show what you’ve learned”
- Praise effort, not just results
5. Keep Perspective
- Effort matters more than scores
- Confidence and a positive mindset go a long way
🎉 Happy Retirement Ms. Smith! 🎉
We want to celebrate Ms. Smith, our wonderful 5th grade teacher, as she prepares to retire at the end of this school year. Ms. Smith has given so much to the Altara community—through her dedication, care, and the lasting impact she’s made on generations of students. She will be deeply missed, and we are incredibly grateful for the difference she has made here. We wish her all the best in this next chapter and hope it is filled with joy, relaxation, and all the things she loves.
🎪💙 Thank You PTA! 💙🎪
We truly have the most incredible school community. Thank you so much to our amazing Altara PTA and all of the volunteers who gave their time, energy, and heart to make last Friday’s carnival such a success. We are also so grateful to everyone who donated items and supported our school in so many ways behind the scenes. Your generosity and dedication are what make Altara such a special place—we are so lucky to have the very best people in our community.

Thank you to everyone who attended, purchased tickets, bid on silent auction items, volunteered or made donations—your generosity truly made a difference. Because of this strong community support, we raised approximately $20,000, which will directly fund and enhance the programs, events, and activities the PTA provides for our students next year.
