Choose Kindness

We are on the lookout for any acts of kindness at Altara.  Here are some examples of kindness happening at our school these past few weeks.

We have the best kids at Altara!

Zach Sorenson (2nd grade) Zach shared a colored pencil with someone who was upset that they didn’t have that specific color.

Leila Lauzo (kindergarten) Leila shows kindness in so many ways! She is so helpful and kind and always helps friends clean up!

Landon Raymond (kindergarten) Landon loves to make fun projects during oral language. He helps others think of fun ideas and be creative. Thanks for helping others.

Cole Raymond (3rd grade) Cole is kind and patient with his desk partner. He always helps him find his lost papers and pencils, and is happy to help!

Steven Green (3rd grade) Steven has been going out of his way to help friends get organized, understand directions and be ready to listen & learn!

Zach Smith (3rd grade) Zach helped his classmates push in all of their chairs without being asked.

Digital Citizenship

Canyons School District recognizes the importance and wants to celebrate Digital Citizenship for students of all ages as they navigate this increasingly digital world! To highlight this essential skill set, Digital Citizenship Week will take place October 13-17, 2025.  This year, students will be engaging in activities and discussions that empower students to seek balance in their technology use and be aware of their online actions.  Connect with us throughout the week!

Fundraiser Information

We’re excited to announce a Fun Run on October 17th to help raise funds for our upcoming field trips! We kindly ask families to help us by collecting donations. Contributions can be made by cash, check, or by scanning the QR code provided. Please make checks payable to Altara Elementary.

Every dollar/100% of the proceeds goes to our school and towards making field trips fun and memorable for our students.  Our goal is to raise $10,000!

So far we have raised $2,143.58! We are super close to hitting our 2nd milestone! Once we hit the $2,500 mark each student will get a headband and armbands to wear during the Fun Run on Friday! Woohoo!

Please be sure to send in your fundraiser envelope with your child or donate using the QR code below.

Thank you for your generosity as we plan for field trip experiences for our KittyHawks!

Boo Fun Run-October 17

The school will be doing the fun run this Friday, October 17, 2025.

*Please note: If the weather decides not to cooperate we will reschedule the Boo Fun Run for Wednesday, October 22nd *

Here is the schedule for the run:

-K-2 (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.)

We will have 2nd grade go first, then 1st grade and  kindergarten will go last.

-3-5 (10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.)

We will have 5th grade go first, then 4th grade and 3rd grade will go last.

Teachers and students will be running/walking in the neighborhood on a route.

(route map is pictured below).

There will be 2 hydration stations within the run where students can grab water and then proceed. These will be maintained by our awesome PTA volunteers! We will also have students from Alta coming & running with our students in both sessions. The students will come back through the catwalk on the playground. There will be a DJ playing music, water bottles & fruit snacks for students. We will dance away until all students from each session are back on the playground.

Parents you are welcome to come and join us if you are able to and cheer your student(s) on.

Sandy City Police Motorcade will  be on site to help us with this event.

We are excited for this event! This will be a fun experience for our

students!
