Monday Minute 2.17.25

Dear Parents,

We are looking forward to seeing you at our Parent Teacher Conferences next week.  Because we have many classrooms who split their day between two teachers, some conferences will be held during the day to accommodate the number of conferences needed.  Don’t forget to stop by the Book Fair in the gym during the after-school hours!

Inspire conversations as a family about safe and positive tech use with Family Tech Planners.

Entertainment and tech have the potential to spark meaningful conversations and screen time has become an important issue for families. Examples include how much time I’m spending with technology, how I’m being kind and inclusive online, and making wise choices with the content I choose.

Utilizing family tech planners are a great way to help your kids manage their screen time and come up with a shared understanding with your kids of how your family makes the most out of entertainment and tech time.

To find tech planners for children of all ages, visit https://tinyurl.com/csdtechplanLinks to an external site. Spanish versions of tech plans are also available on this website.

Drop off/Pick up Lane

Just a friendly reminder to pull all the way forward (east) when you are in that lane before stopping to drop off or pick up your student.  If we can fill up the lane with cars east of the crosswalk and get students loaded and unloaded at one time, it goes pretty smoothly with minimal back-up on the main road.  Shout out to all our staff who help with this process!

For those who have a student entering Kindergarten next fall:

Kindergarten enrollment and registration

If you have a child turning 5 years old by Sept. 1st, 2025, they will be entering kindergarten next fall.  The window to enroll your child ends on Feb. 28th.  Families must first enroll their student (a one-time event), and then annually must register their students. Registration usually happens around August 1st.  We are doing the enrollment process now.

Please log into Skyward and go to New Student Enrollment.  Fill out the information for your new student who will be starting kindergarten next year.

We are planning to have Kindergarten Orientation on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 2:00 here at Altara.   This will give you and your child a chance to meet the teachers and hear about what to expect in kindergarten.

If you have a neighbor or friend that you know has a child this age, please let them know the process.   Here’s a link for families who don’t already have Skyward access to start the enrollment process:  https://student.canyonsdistrict.org/scripts/wsisa.dll/WService=wsEAplus/skyenroll.w

If you want your student to participate in a half-day kindergarten experience, please let the principal know by Feb. 28th.
