Parent Teacher Conference

The final round of parent teacher conferences will be held at the end of this month on Tuesday, February 24 and Wednesday February 25, 2026. We look forward to seeing families and celebrating the growth and progress our students at Altara are doing!

Parent Teacher Conference Appointments on Skyward

There will be instructions coming from our wonderful secretary, Wendi on how you can sign up for conference times. Please watch for this coming this week.

February Early Out Days

Parents, we have 2 early out days in February. This is slightly unusual since traditionally we only have them the week of Parent Teacher Conferences. Please plan accordingly for these TWO days in February:

-Thursday, February 12, 2026 school will dismiss at 1:25 pm

-Thursday, February 26, 2026 school will also dismiss at 1:25 pm (this is the traditional day we have had in the past during parent teacher conferences)

Shelter in Place Drill~February Drill

This month’s drill will be a “Shelter in Place” Drill. Below is information on the procedures we take for this for a drill and prepare us for the real occurrence should it happen.

•When taking shelter, instruction continues as normal, though students and employees may be required to hold in their classrooms for a period of time. Students in portables, on playgrounds, or outside for activities should be relocated to a main building until an All-Clear is given.

•Sheltering for a hazardous materials spill or release is very different. In the case of a hazmat situation, students and staff would be directed to close their windows, shut down their heating and air conditioning units and seal windows and doors to preserve the good inside air while restricting the entry of any contaminated outside air. Listening to specific directives is critical to successful emergency response.

Shelter is called when specific protective actions are needed based on a threat or hazard.

Emergencies that may require a shelter response, include:

• Earthquake

• Hazmat emergency

• Flooding

• Bomb threat (outside campus)

• Wildfires

• Severe weather
