We hope you and your family had a wonderful Spring Break and were able to enjoy fun, meaningful time together. We are so excited to welcome our students back and jump into the final stretch of the school year!
Learning Environment Requests
Parents who feel their child has specific needs that may not yet be fully recognized are welcome to provide input regarding student placement for the 2026–2027 school year. Forms will be available starting today for families who wish to share the type of learning environment in which their child will thrive most in. The form is attached to this post. Completed forms must be returned to the school no later than April 30, 2026. You are welcome to send the form back to the school office or email the form directly to Principal Julie Fielding (julie.fielding@canyonsdistrict.org).
Class placements are thoughtfully developed to support both individual student needs and the overall balance of each classroom. Grade-level teams collaborate closely to create class groupings, and significant time and care are given to this process. We appreciate your thoughtful input and ask that you keep the complexity of this work in mind when submitting requests.
Incoming Kindergarten Students
If you have a child turning 5 years old before or by September 1, 2026, they are eligible to enroll for kindergarten next school year.
- Please stop by our office to fill out registration paperwork or complete it online
- Please be prepared to provide copies of the following forms:
- Child’s original or certified birth certificate
- Proof of Residency
- Immunizations
- Should you have a neighbor who has a child who will be 5 by September 1st, please ask them to come visit us.
Mark your calendar for Kindergarten Orientation on April 24th from 2-3 pm
Both parents/guardians and future Kindergartners are invited. This will be an opportunity to meet the teachers, administration, and learn about Altara Elementary!

It’s hard to believe, but we have just 7 weeks of school remaining! This time of year is incredibly important for learning, growth, and finishing strong.
Consistent attendance plays a key role in your child’s success. Each school day includes meaningful instruction, end-of-year assessments, and opportunities for students to build confidence and master essential skills. When students miss school, even for short periods, it can be difficult to catch up—especially as we wrap up the year.
We kindly ask for your support in ensuring your child is at school on time and ready to learn each day. Let’s work together to make these final weeks positive, productive, and successful for every student.
