✏️ Educators Leaving Altara ✏️
We have two educators that will be leaving Altara this summer to pursue other opportunities .
- Laurie Lauzo, our 2nd grade Spanish teacher, will be working part-time next year at a location closer to her home.
- Lisa Van Wagenen, our PE teacher, will be working full-time as the Sandy Crossing Guard Coordinator.
We will miss them and wish them the very best! They have loved being at Altara!
🏍️ Motorized Bikes on Campus 🏍️
To help keep our school campus safe for everyone, motorized bikes are not allowed on school property at any time, including after school hours and on weekends. This includes riding on sidewalks, playground areas, blacktops, fields, and parking lots connected to the school. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe environment for our students, families, and community members.

On Thursday, May 28th, we will be celebrating our 5th grade students as they reach the end of their elementary years and prepare to begin their junior high journey. The celebration will begin at 9:00 AM, and we warmly invite all families of our 5th grade students to join us for this special moment. We look forward to honoring and celebrating our amazing students together!

Back-to-School Registration Opens Aug. 3 — Take a Minute to Prepare Now
Save the date! Back-to-school registration for the 2026–2027 school year will open on Monday, August 3, 2026. This year, we’re introducing an upgraded version of our student information system, Skyward Qmlativ, designed with a more modern look, improved navigation, and a more intuitive, user-friendly experience to make registration and access to student information easier. Families will continue to log in through the same, secure Family Access they’ve used in the past.
What you can do now to prepare:
- Please take a moment to make sure you know your Family Access username and password. Having your login information ready will help ensure a smooth and quick registration process on Aug. 3.
- If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset it now through this link: Forgotten Username/Password Assistance
- If you need assistance, contact your school or the Canyons Help Desk at 801-826-5544.
Soon, we’ll be sharing helpful resources, including step-by-step guides and videos, to walk families through the updated system. Thank you for taking a few minutes now to be ready for registration day.

🛼 Thank you to our amazing Altara school community for joining us at our free skate night at Classic Skating! We had a great turnout celebrating the success of exceeding our PTA Carnival fundraising goal. Thank you for your continued support of our school and PTA programs! ⛹️ Field Day Volunteers Needed!
Field Day is always a highlight for our students, and this year will be packed with fun at five exciting outdoor activity stations. We’re looking for parent volunteers to help make the day a success!
Field Day Schedule
- Kindergarten Field Day: Thursday, May 29
(Volunteers already arranged) - Grades 1–5 Field Day: Friday, May 30
Grades 1–5 Session Times
Students will participate in either a morning or late morning session. (3rd grade will be split by DLI and English classes.)
Morning Session | 8:30–10:05 AM
1st Grade through 3rd Grade DLI
Limited water activities
10:10–10:20 AM
Indoor 5th Grade Clap Out
Parents are welcome to attend. No volunteers are needed during this time.
Late Morning Session 10:05-11:50
English 3rd Grade through 5th Grade
Includes additional water stations
We are looking for at least two volunteers per station. Teachers and support staff will be present to assist with behavior and station management.
As a fun bonus, the Sandy City Fire Department will stop by at 11:50 AM to cool the kids off with a water spray!
You’re welcome to volunteer for the entire morning or just during your child’s session. We hope you can join us for this fun-filled day!
