Important Pick-Up Reminder
Parents and guardians, please do not pick up students before the crosswalk. For everyone’s safety, students must be picked up from the designated colored zones only.
Please coordinate with your child in advance so they know which colored zone to go to at dismissal. Students should not enter vehicles anywhere outside their assigned pick-up zone. Thank you for helping us keep dismissal safe and orderly! As a reminder, the designated pick-up zones are indicated below:
School Pick Up Color Zones
On the sidewalk at the east end of the building, we have created designated, color-coded waiting areas for students. These spaces will help reduce congestion and provide an easy meeting place for siblings and carpool groups. They will also improve visibility, making it easier for students and the adults picking them up to find one another.
The designated colors are blue, green, yellow, red, orange, and purple. Please help your student choose a meeting color to make afternoon pickup a breeze!
Emergency Drills and Safety Information – September
As part of our commitment to student safety and in accordance with state requirements, Altara conducts monthly emergency drills to help students and staff prepare for a variety of scenarios. These drills are an important part of our safety procedures and help ensure that all students and staff know what to do in case of an emergency.
Our September drill will be Lockdown, scheduled to take place this month.
Additionally, Canyons District has prepared a video explaining what happens during a school evacuation. You may preview the video below and share it with your child(ren) if you believe it would be helpful.

📣 FIRST PTA MEETING — September 1 at 10:00 AM
Our first PTA meeting is tomorrow, September 1, at 10:00 AM. Everyone is welcome! We will be voting on the PTA budget for the 2026–2027 school year, so we’d love to see you there!
📚 BOOK BLITZ — 4th & 5th Grade
Book Blitz starts this month for our 4th and 5th grade students! This is a fun team reading competition where students meet monthly to practice together before the final competition at the end of February. First meeting: Tomorrow, September 1, during lunch. 👉 Learn more and sign up here: Book Blitz
🍎 ROOM PARENT TEA — September 11 at 1:35 PM
Our Room Parent Tea will be held on September 11 at 1:35 PM. This will be a chance for room parents to meet with teachers and discuss plans and expectations for the school year. All parents who have signed up to be room parents will be contacted with more information.
🎨 REFLECTIONS
Reflections entries are now open for all interested students! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to share their creativity through the arts.

Come join us for Spirit Night of the year at Mooyah’s on September 10! Bring the family, enjoy some dinner, and help support Altara Elementary at the same time! 💙
We would love to have all of our Altara Elementary parents join the PTA! The PTA is a wonderful way to get involved, connect with other families, support our teachers and staff, and help make our school an even better place for our students.
