Miss Fielding’s Monday Minute – October 9, 2023

Dear Parents,

Our school choir did a fabulous job last Friday at our school assembly!  Thanks, Ms. Pixton and Mrs. Dennison, for all your work and time spent with our choir.   They did amazing!  We look forward to hearing them perform again in December.

Halloween

We will be having our parade outside this year.   Bring your camp chair and line up on the playground.  Everyone should be able to easily see our cute, costumed students.  If you live within walking distance from the school, please consider walking as parking may be limited.

As always, we ask for no masks or pretend or real weapons as part of their costume here at school.  Save those items for other celebrations.  Parents are also welcome to dress up as they cheer on our students.  Thanks to all our room parents who are preparing class parties for that afternoon.  Be sure you have done the background check on the district website so you will be able to come volunteer.

Reminder:  No knives, sling shots, or other weapons or facsimiles of weapons can ever be brought to school by students, not just on Halloween.

Digital Citizenship Week

Canyons School District recognizes the importance and wants to celebrate Digital Citizenship for students of all ages as they navigate this increasingly digital world! To highlight this essential skill set, Digital Citizenship Week will take place October 16-18, 2023.  This year students will be engaging in activities and discussions that empower students to seek balance in their technology use and be aware of their online actions.  Connect with us throughout the week!

Botvin Life Skills

Our social worker, Mrs. Foster, is beginning to teach a program called the Botvin Life Skills curriculum in fourth grade classes. The state of Utah requires that all elementary schools teach this curriculum in fourth grade classes. Topics covered include self-esteem, decision-making skills, communication skills, negative effects of smoking, and assertiveness. The curriculum will be taught once a week for 10 weeks. Please reach out if you have any questions!
