Faculty Spotlight – Mr. Lowe

My name is Clifford Thomas Lowe. I was born in Southern California at the Pomona Valley Hospital. My father thought I was going to be a girl so my name was going to be Sarah Ann Lowe. However, I was born a boy so they thankfully gave me a new name. My mother didn’t want my father to name me Clifford, which is a family name, but he won the debate. Thomas is after the doctor who delivered me. I have one older brother and one older sister. I’m the baby. I lived with my aunt and uncle in a small town in California called Tehachapi. I moved to St. George Utah when I was about 12 years old. I lived in Brazil for a short while and would move back if I could survive. I love to travel to Cartagena, Colombia during the summer. I love to travel in general. I have always loved learning about different cultures. I have enjoyed learning Portuguese and Spanish. I love getting to know people. I was married for about 15 years and I have 5 beautiful children that I love deeply. My children’s names and ages are Lilly 16, Bella 13, Tristan 13, Collin 10, and Piper 8. They’re my everything. I have three daughters and two sons. The mother of my children is so amazing and she is an awesome mother. I moved to the Salt Lake Valley about 8 or 9 years ago. I moved here to teach. St. George was a hard place to get a teaching job. I have been teaching for about 8 years. I taught 4th and 3rd grade and I’m currently teaching 4th grade again. I’m teaching the English/Math section of the DLI program. I have been at Altara for as many years as I have been teaching. I have enjoyed being a part of the Altara community and it has helped me to grow as an individual. Some things I enjoy doing when I’m not teaching. I love spending time with my children, traveling, bowling, hiking, photography, art (drawing, painting, and coloring), swimming, going to the movies, being around other people, eating out, trying new foods, playing board games, and going bowling. These are just a few things I enjoy. I honestly just love being with great company.
