Thanks to all who attended the Watch DOGS and Donuts activity last week. It was great! Shout out to our PTA and to Alex Osborne who spearheaded the event and manages the calendar for Watch DOGS at our school. We appreciate having the program at our school!
Canned Food Drive
Our Student Council is planning a food drive to benefit the Utah Food Bank next week. Collections will begin Feb. 3rd and continue through the 7th. Thanks for any support you can give our community!
Spirit Days
Every Friday is spirit day at Altara. Wear your school spirit shirt or our school colors that day: blue & white or silver.
Staffing
Our resource teacher, Kris Hill, has accepted a new position to teach transition study groups at Jordan and Hillcrest High School. We wish her the very best and thank her for her almost ten years of service here at Altara. She will be missed!

Choose Kindness
We are on the lookout for any acts of kindness at Altara.
Ben Briggs (kindergarten) Ben is one of the best helpers in my room. He loves to clean and make his table neat and sparkly.
Lexi Christensen (5th grade) She is generous and kind by sharing keychains with her peers. It brought a smile to many faces!
Mario Davis (4th grade) After our Christmas party, Mario went around cleaning the floor voluntarily. It was awesome!
Peter Smoot (1st grade) Peter makes sure everyone feels included. When someone doesn’t have a partner, he always offers to include them.
Ensley Anderson (2nd grade) Ensley is always happy to help me. She loves to change the choice sticks.
PTA News
Remember our Chick-fil-a Spirit Night is TOMORROW Tuesday, January 28th! From 6-8 PM, a percentage of all orders placed through the mobile app will be donated to our school. Whether you dine in or use the drive-thru, be sure to place your order with the app to support Altara. Spread the word and let’s make it a great night!

Altara Elementary
For those who have a student entering Kindergarten next fall:
Kindergarten enrollment and registration
If you have a child turning 5 years old by Sept. 1st, 2025, they will be entering kindergarten next fall. The window to enroll your child ends on Feb. 28th. Families must first enroll their student (a one-time event), and then annually must register their students. Registration usually happens around August 1st. We are doing the enrollment process now.
Please log into Skyward and go to New Student Enrollment. Fill out the information for your new student who will be starting kindergarten next year.
We are planning to have Kindergarten Orientation on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 2:00 here at Altara. This will give you and your child a chance to meet the teachers and hear about what to expect in kindergarten.

If you want your student to participate in a half-day kindergarten experience, please let the principal know by Feb. 28th.
