Monday Minute Dear Parents,Altara will be starting a Box Top program soon. Watch for a flyer to come home with instructions on how to participate. You no longer need to cut off Box Tops from certain grocery items. Now there is an app to scan your receipt, and it finds the appropriate items that count towards the program. We appreciate your support! Career DayFriday, October 4th @ 8:45 – 10:00 AM is our Altara Career Day!We are asking for 24 volunteers to speak about their careers, so come share your expertise with our students! Volunteers can be parents, guardians, grandparents, or friends of the family. This is a community event! Click or visit the link https://cnyns.org/3Uo7s9x for more information and to sign-up. Thanks for your support. We look forward to seeing you there! Art HavenAn after-school art program is starting up at Altara next month. It costs $125 for 7 weeks of classes going from Oct. 2nd-Nov. 20th on Wednesdays. A flyer was sent out with information on how to register. Students from grades K-5 can participate, with a 24-student limit on the class. Choose Kindness We are on the lookout for any acts of kindness at Altara. Here are some examples of kindness happening at our school these past couple of weeks. We have the best students! James Wimmer (5th grade) This week James W. has shown outstanding kindness in our classroom. He consistently offers help to his classmates without being asked, making sure everyone feels good. Ivy Shields (5th grade) Ivy is a great example of kindness. During class, she’s kind to her classmates during paperwork. She shows kindness by listening actively! Maya Taku (5th grade) Maya stepped up without being asked to fill in for a missing team member on safety patrol. Genevieve Bowe (kindergarten) Genevieve works hard to make friends with others. She always looks for a friend to play with at recess. Ryan Harrison (kindergarten) Ryan shares the supplies at this table. He helps me clean up too. He is my special helper. Manuel Jimenez Miranda (5th grade) Manuel is a great friend to his classmates. At our field trip to Camp Tracy, he always made sure his buddy was okay and having fun. Damian Oyanadel (5th grade) For always treating others with respect! Thank you for being thoughtful and always willing to share a smile. Thank you for making our classroom a better place.
