Miss Fielding Monday Minute – April 15, 2024

Dear Families,
We are looking forward to hearing our school choir perform their musical this Thursday!  They will present their program to the student body in the morning that day and then perform again that evening for family and friends.  All are welcome to come to that performance at 7:00 pm.

Kindergarten Orientation

This Friday is the date to welcome our new kittyhawks to Altara!  Families with students entering kindergarten next year are invited to the orientation at 2:00 this coming Friday.  We are anxious to meet all our new students!

Technology Tip

When everything claims to be educational, it can be difficult to determine which media content is appropriate for your kids. We know that reviewing everything on your own can be a very time-consuming and frustrating process. Common Sense Media publishes reviews on movies, TV shows, books, games, and apps to help families make educated decisions on content curation. They even have a Star Wars Age-by-Age guideLinks to an external site. to help you introduce your favorite characters in an age-appropriate manner. Families can access 3 free reviews monthly without creating an account. Consider including your children in the decision-making process and let them pitch why they feel the movie, show, game, or app is a good use of their time.

Earth Week

Today for Earth Week we want to highlight a simple yet impactful action: reducing unnecessary idling of vehicles, so Turn the Key and Be Idle Free.

The seemingly harmless act of idling actually wastes fuel and releases harmful pollutants into the air, contributing to environmental degradation.

By encouraging one another to turn off car engines when parked, we’re not only conserving fuel but also helping to keep the air clean and healthy for everyone. So, let’s work together to instill this eco-conscious habit in our children and families. Together, we can make a difference by turning the key and being idle free!

Thank you for your continued support in fostering a greener, healthier future for our community and beyond.

Hello from the PTA!

It’s here!  Our Spring “Altara Rocks” Fundraiser is upon us!  Please watch for envelopes to come home with your student this week.  The money collected during this fundraiser will be used to not only support our amazing teachers, but also to help our awesome students!  Funds raised will go toward teacher grants, Watch DOGS, class parties, field trips, Teacher Appreciation Week, Red and White Ribbon Week, NOVA, Birthday Club, student gifts, and so much more!  We will be having our community event on April 26 with food trucks, photo ops, a silent auction, and our favorite DJ – MR. LOWE!!  Please consider donating to help support our amazing school.  And we are still collecting donations for the silent auction, so if you have goods or services you’d like to donate, please reach out to Chelsea Osborne (osborne.chelsea@gmail.com).

Thank you so much for your support!
