Dear Families,
We have noticed some safety concerns with our pick-up and would like to make a small change. Currently, most of our students wait at the east end of the building until their ride is visible. They then walk down the sidewalk to enter the vehicles. We will continue that practice but ask that the students wait until their ride has moved past the main crosswalk before leaving that east area. With our kindergarten students waiting at the front and many parents in that area as well, it gets very congested when additional students also wait there or walk past there to get into their vehicle. If a student needs to collect their kindergarten sibling, we ask that they pick them up and return to the east end of the building to wait until their ride is past that main crosswalk. If students have a meeting spot in that front area of the school, please work with them to plan a spot to meet at the east end of the building. Thanks for helping us maintain safety at a busy time of the day.
Crossing Guard Information
Crossing guards have noticed that some students are arriving at crosswalks before crossing guards are scheduled to be there in the mornings and are lingering and walking to the crosswalk very slowly and barely making it in time to cross with a crossing guard. We just wanted to remind you of the times that crossing guards are scheduled to be at each crosswalk so your students can safely cross with the help of a crossing guard during that time. The surrounding intersections and 11000 South are very busy before and after school with high school and other traffic. Each week the crossing guards witness speeding cars, several cars running the stop signs and other unsafe driving habits. If your student comes extra early for breakfast, does any extracurricular activities or lingers too long after school, please note that crossing guards may not be stationed to help them cross.
Below are the scheduled times for each crosswalk:
Pam (in front of the school on 110th) is scheduled to be there from 7:55 to 8:35 each morning. 3:00 to 3:30 on Mon – Thurs afternoons and 1:20 to 1:50 on Friday afternoons.
Lisa and Stacey (at the Alta 4-way intersection on 1000 E and 11000 S) are scheduled to be there from 7:50 to 8:30 each morning. 3:05 to 3:35 Mon to Thurs afternoon and 1:25 to 1:55 on Fridays.
Diane and Scott (at the traffic light on 700 E and 11000 S) are scheduled to be there from 7:45 to 8:25 each morning. 3:00 to 3:30 Mon to Thurs afternoon and 1:20 to 1:50on Fridays.
