  1. STEAM CLASSES
    1. Kristen Romero wondered if we can add more STEAM SQUAD to the before school activities
    2. There were over 100 applications in K-2 just the first day and only 25 spots available.
    3. Kathryn Weber and Julie Fielding reached out to the person in charge and haven’t heard back
    4. Michelle Erb will be meeting the person in charge to ask about STEAM SQUAD
    5. There is a lot of work required with the STEAM SQUAD
    6. There are a few issues with adding more classes
      1. Will the district approve more opportunities for opening more classes?
      2. Will there be teachers who are willing to lead this class?
      3. Spacing can be an issue with what
  1. TSSA Plan
    1. Julie will be meeting with BLT Monday
    2. She is looking at making the reading goal is at 80% showing proficiency or above proficiency OR 80% of students showing typical or above typical growth.
    3. Last May we showed 77% growth.
    4. There will be no Reading Inventory test anymore.
    5. We are using the Acadience Benchmark testing.
    6. Kindergarten – correct letter sounds in nonsense words
    7. 1st grade – whole word read in nonsense words
    8. 2nd-5th – oral fluency reading
    9. She is looking at making the reading goal is at 80% showing proficiency or above proficiency OR 80% of students showing typical or above typical growth.
    10. Climate goal – 100% of our teachers implementing morning meeting, using Thrive Time curriculum, and building relationships.
    11. School goal – reading foundational skills, prioritizing scheduling to aid tier 2 and tier 2 supports. Everyone gets tier 1 supports, but we want to prioritize those students who are needing additional supports.
    12. School goal – focusing on structured classroom discussions as a whole school.
    13. Julie would like the LAND TRUST funds ($28,000) to go all towards for assistants
    14. She would like all of the TSSA funds ($110,721.78- last year) to go towards:
      1. $2000 BLT, meet before contract time to review school planning and goal reaching or sub day to meet during school hours
      2. $3000 professional development and planning – giving teachers time to plan with their teams, dig into the data, and provide time with a substitute in the classroom
      3. $1500 supplies for professional development – can be treats, supplies, or tools
      4. $1800 two MTSS assistants
      5. $6500 block for math software technology support
      6. $30000 social worker
      7. $1500 behavior assistant (the district provides one, but using TSSA to pay for the other one)
      8. $4000 PBIS awards for students and teachers – instead of a school store, put it in the teacher stores
      9. Additional funding – increase in the amounts in any of the areas already identified, FTE in supporting lower class sizes, behavior/support aids, substitutes, supplies for PD or academic subjects…

  1. School Happenings
    1. Safety concerns update. The district meets with the city and comes back with the principal to share what feedback they have shared
      1. The park strip is the home owners – there is contact info present for when this has not been completed, Julie will share with SCC
      2. Crossing guards not being there before school – they are not provided for extracurricular activities. This is a stop controlled intersection, pick up and drop off should be on school grounds only
    2. District proposal for elementary teacher planning time
      1.  Our elementary teachers are not receiving the same planning time as the secondary teachers.
      2. Elementary teachers have asked for more planning time
      3. The Elementary Task Force was created
      4. Proposed investments introduced to SCC
        1. Daily planning time
        2. Extended planning block
        3. Assistant principal/admin interns
        4. IEP Block Scheduling
      5. Board supports 45-60 planning times, but concern about shorten Fridays and virtual Fridays. That was taken out of the proposal. They also asked to look at assistant principals/admins interns in separate. They are supporting the IEP scheduling.
      6. What does this mean for students? It will increase the students M-TH school day by 10 minutes. They will get some form of arts Monday-Thursday. Teachers’ work day will not be extended.
      7. What does this mean for teachers? Teachers will have daily, uninterrupted planning time so that they can deliver high quality instruction. PLC (professional learning communities – teacher teams meeting to discuss student data and supports) will be held during a 60 minute block or on Friday.
      8. Altara Brain booster teachers are on board, however this is not the same across the district.
      9. If SCC members would like to write/email the school board, please do to show your in favor or not in favor.
      10. SCC members like the proposal and seem to be in favor.
