SCC Meeting Agenda for January 19, 2023

Agenda Items:

1. Approve last meeting’s minutes
   1. November 10, 2023 – Minutes (Draft) – Altara Elementary (canyonsdistrict.org)

Motion to approve Kathryn Weber second by Michelle

Those not in attendance will vote to approve via email

2. Review action items from last meeting
   1. Cell tower funds—Teacher appreciation as we approved last meeting
   2. Attendance plan—Turned into Julie Fielding
      1. Worried about taking away academic time.
      2. PBIS point for random days or random on time people.
         1. Sometimes for tardiness and sometimes for being here.
         2. Tie it into the system we currently have.

3. Review year-to-date budget and submit a Plan Amendment for approval, as needed.
   1. So far, we look as though we will get to our 10% and we will continue to watch it each month.
   2. No amendments so far and we are not anticipating that we will need to.

4. Participate in an academic data discussion in relation to the current School LAND Trust Plan implementation and decide the academic needs to be addressed in the upcoming school year

1. MLL—learning English (Lexile program and newcomer program)
2. Progress monitoring—State mandated
3. LA Rise/Sage 3-5 (EOY 2022-2023) is at 62% proficiency
4. Math Rise/Sage 3-5 (EOY 2022-2023) is at 63% proficiency
5. Science Rise/Sage 4-5 (EOY 2022-2023) is at 62% proficiency
6. Data shows that having aides is working.
7. Move towards keeping funds for aides and MLL/progress monitoring programs. Next meeting will have more specifics and budget items, etc.

5. Make recommendations to the principal about the Teacher and Student Success Act Plan (TSSA).
   1. Data from agenda item 4 shows that we want to keep the same math goal and keep aides as they are helping our score.
   2. Reading goals are grade specific. Do we want to have a broader school wide goal? Set goal to continue to have aides.

6. School Happenings
   1. STEM teacher is resigning at end of this month (part time brain booster) replace with art. BLT wants visual arts (part time) every other week for 20 hours a week. Time spent in STEM is a discussion item at the next Canyons meeting (this Tuesday).
   2. PD-Structured classroom discussions (talking and using academic talk)
   3. Fire Drill—done in 4 minutes
   4. Reminder–Teacher of the year nominations due soon

7. Governor Cox Cell Phone Letter
   1. District has said they are not making a district decision; it needs to be a local decision.
   2. Are we seeing this as a problem at our school? A slight distraction…not a huge problem so far. Digital citizenship reminders can help. Kids have seemed to be respectful when asked to put away.
   3. We do not think we need to make a fuss because it is not much of an issue here.
   4. We do not have a school policy for infractions.
